Chiefs Claim QB Matt Gutierrez off Waivers from New England

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Thursday that the club has claimed QB Matt Gutierrez off waivers from New England.

Gutierrez (6-4, 230) appeared in five games in two seasons with New England (2007-08). He completed his only pass attempt for 15 yards. He originally entered the NFL as a college free agent with the Patriots in 2007.

Gutierrez transferred to Idaho State as a senior after earning three varsity letters at Michigan. He completed 187 of 342 passes for 2,237 yards with 16 TDs and 14 INTs for a 116.9 rating during his lone season with the Bengals. He threw 64 touchdown passes during his prep career at De LaSalle High School in Concord, California.
