That last drive of regulation, is that what you guys have wanted to get done for a while on offense? “That was a great drive for us; the offense did a great job, the receivers caught the ball, we moved the ball down the field, we were able to push the ball down the field in terms of throwing the ball (and when I say down the field I mean over 20 yards). It was a great drive. It gave us an opportunity to win at the end, and that’s all you can ask for in this type of game. We’re just going to keep moving ahead and hope to build on that.”

What was your comfort level on that last drive? “I felt very comfortable throughout the day. I liked our game plan this week; we had a good week of practice and that just kind of carried over into the game.”

Do you think it is a momentum-thing that you can’t get it done when you need to – you lost the momentum a little in the third and fourth quarter? “There’s no doubt. When we talked in [the locker room] after the game, I think the most important thing for our team to understand is that today was the first time that we really came together as a team. The defensive side of the ball made some big plays for us and the offensive unit went down and scored when we needed to. We battled throughout the course of the day and we put ourselves in a position against a very good football team, the Dallas Cowboys, to win. That’s what we’re looking for. The prior games that we’ve had we haven’t been in the game late, and that’s’ what we wanted to do. We wanted to show everybody that we can be in these games, especially against good football teams, and as long as we play better and execute, then we’re going to be a good football team.”

You had some backup offensive linemen in, why did it work at that time? “I can’t say, that’s just football for you. You never know when it’s going to click and you never know when you’re going to go down and have to do that and everybody rose to the occasion. It was a testament to those guys on the offensive side of the ball, they said, ‘Hey, we have to go do something’ and they did it.”

Is this closest you’ve been to meeting your expectations, with being traded for, and the contract? “I don’t really worry about that. I have high expectations for myself. I don’t really worry about everybody else and what they think of me. There are people that are going to be judgmental of me, and that’s fine. But I’m going to continue to be the same guy every single day. I’m going to give you 110 percent, I’m going to work hard and I’m going to be ready to play on Sunday. Unfortunately, up to this point, we haven’t gotten a win but I think we’re heading in the right direction.”

How disappointing is this outcome, especially given how long you held the lead? “It’s very disappointing. You play to win the ball game and we were so close at the end, and we weren’t able to pull it off, so of course it’s disappointing. But at the same time, like I said before, I think you can take a lot of positives from this game, especially playing this team (the Cowboys), and we have to build on that, get better, and that will make us better in the long run.”

At what point do you get frustrated with taking positives despite the losses and say, ‘We need to win’? “Well, losing is frustrating, there’s no doubt about it. Whatever we can do to figure out the right anecdote to win, then we’re going to have to try to do it. There’s no easy way to say it. Losing sucks, and we’ve got to figure out a way to win.”
