WR DWAYNE BOWE
How did it feel to come back?
“It felt good to get back out there around my team. It was a little rough at times because my concentration wasn’t on point. There’s a difference between going to practice and catchin’ balls and then translating that into games. . .you have to be in games constantly to be consistent. I had a couple of mistakes here and there but I was with the team and they were happy for me to be back and I’ve just got to prove myself [again].”

On scoring so many points but not coming away with a win: “It’s real tough but we just have to be fundamental on the offense and the defense, catching the ball and blocking the run. Other than that, both sides of the ball played pretty hard.”

Being a team leader, how do you approach these last two games? “We just forget about this game, correct our mistakes on Wednesday and don’t let the mistakes happen. We may be 0-2 in the fourth quarter but now we have to come together. We just have to be able to play consistently and we will be okay.”

TE BRAD COTTAM
How are you feeling after that flip on the sideline?
“It is just a little sore but I got back in there and was able to play. I don’t think it’ll be a big deal.”

What does it feel like to get your hands on the ball a number of times? “It feels good because you go out there and practice and work on things all week. Then, when things work, you get to get the ball a little bit, it feels good. But it doesn’t matter if we don’t finish the way we want to.”

When you’re observing what the other team’s offense is doing and what your defense is doing, what’s going through your mind? “They’ve got to take care of what they do and all we can do is worry about the offense. When we go on the field we’ve got to score and do what we can do to try and get a lead, some how, some way. We’ve just got to build off them, whatever they are or aren’t doing. We’ve got to find a way to win the game.”

What was the game plan going in, offensively? “We’re trying to get in there and run a fast offense and we get our third downs going fast and a lot of play action. We’re trying to make stuff happen.”

Do you ever have the opportunity to give the QB or coach input as to what you are seeing out there on the field? “The whole game, we’re talking to each other, telling them what we’re seeing, they might have two safeties or just one, and what we think we can do. We try to keep it within the offensive plan for the week, but we’re talking the whole time and trying to see what we can exploit on the defense.”

A lot of motion, a lot of shifting the last couple of weeks I’ve noticed. What is that designed to do? “It makes the defense have to adjust to us and having to think about where they’re going. If we line up one way, if we move, it can kind of confuse them.”

LB MIKE VRABEL
How can the Chiefs defense stop all those rushing yards?
“I think you have to be physical. We can draw up a million defenses and it doesn’t matter. There comes a time when a few of those [long run] plays hurt us early in the year and they came back repeatedly.”

On special teams: “I think everybody knew going in that (WR Joshua) Cribbs was a large part of what they did. He pretty much won the Pittsburgh game for them and pretty much won this game for them. They did a nice job running the ball. Their backs did a good job. Having two kick returns for touchdowns – that’s a pretty good day for them.”

S DAJUAN MORGAN
On the two kick returns for touchdowns
: “We can’t give up two touchdowns on special teams in this league, no matter what. You just can’t do it. We played hard, they played hard today. Unfortunately we lost, so I’m disappointed in that.”

WR Joshua Cribbs is a guy who has a lot of talent, doesn’t he? “That guy, he’s unbelievable. For him to do what he did today, he made me a believer. I watched him on film all week. I just didn’t think he was going to do that to us. He’s a great athlete and he made some plays today to help his team win.”

Defensively, it was not your best day. Did they doing anything different that you weren’t expecting? “No, they didn’t do anything special, nothing that we haven’t seen all week. They just made plays. We just have to do the little things right. This defense is predicated on 11 guys doing what they’re supposed to be doing. One guys messes up, isn’t doing what he’s supposed to be doing, it messes up the whole defense.”

What did Coach Todd Haley have to say to you guys after the game? “He was just telling us that enough was enough. It can’t be him that’s mad all the time. We’ve just got to stick together and just got to get tired of losing and eventually it’s going to turn around for us.”
