A Victory at INVESCO Field: The Chiefs registered their initial victory at INVESCO Field. Kansas City’s 44 points were the club’s most at Denver since a 45-24 win (10/1/72). Kansas City’s 20-point win was the club’s biggest margin of victory at Denver since registering a 37-16 win at Mile High Stadium (12/19/82). The Chiefs are now 6-0 all-time in regular season finales vs. Denver.

Charles in Charge: RB Jamaal Charles set a Chiefs single-game record with 259 rushing yards, becoming the third player in franchise history to rush for 200 yards or more in a game. He finished the season with 1,120 rushing yards, becoming the ninth player in Chiefs history to register a 1,000-yard rushing season. He had 190 carries on the season, the fewest by any Chiefs player to record a 1,000-yard season, breaking the previous mark of 204 set by RB Barry Word in ‘90. Charles recorded his fourth consecutive 100-yard rushing game, tying as the third-longest streak in team history. Charles’ 259 yards were the second-highest total ever recorded by an individual against Denver, trailing a 278-yard performance by Bengals RB Corey Dillon at Cincinnati (10/22/00). Charles’ 361 rushing yards in consecutive games broke the previous mark of 343 set by RB Larry Johnson in 2005. Charles finished the year with 2,342 combined net yards, the second-highest seasonal total in franchise history. His 5.89 yards-per-carry average also ranked as the second-highest single-season mark in team annals (min. 100 atts.).

Charles now has five 100-yard games on the season and six for his career. Charles finished the first half with 113 yards. The last time the Chiefs had an individual 100-yard rusher in a single half was when RB Larry Johnson had 105 yards in the second half vs. Denver (9/28/08). He added 182 yards in the second half. Charles registered a 56-yard TD, giving him a team-record fourth TD run of 40+ yards on the season. Dating back to November 15th, the only player with more rushing yards than Charles (968) was Tennessee RB Chris Johnson (1,047). Charles established a career-high two rushing TDs at Denver, giving him seven for his career.

DJ Goes All the Way, Twice: LB Derrick Johnson tied an NFL record, becoming the 25th player in league annals to produce two INT return TDs in a single game with 45-yard and 60-yard INT return TDs. He now has three INTs on the season and six for his career. It was the first time KC returned an INT return for a TD since CB Maurice Leggett had a 27-yard TD at Denver (12/7/08). Johnson’s 105 INT return yards rank as the fourth-highest single-game total in franchise history.

Succop’s Stats: K Ryan Succop connected on 86.20% (25 of 29) of his FGs, the second-highest make percentage by a rookie since the AFL-NFL merger (min. 20 attempts). He finished the season with 104 points, leading all NFL rookies in scoring and the second-highest total by a rookie in franchise history. His 25 made FGs were the most by a Chiefs rookie and the most by any Chiefs kicker since K Lawrence Tynes had 27 in 2005. Succop’s 29 made PATs were the fourth-highest total by a Chiefs rookie. Succop established career highs with 14 points and five made PATs at Denver.

Team Offensive Stats: Kansas City’s 317 team rushing yards were the fourth-highest total in franchise history and the most since the club had 380 rushing yards at Denver (10/23/66). The Chiefs 317 rushing yards were the fourth-highest single-game total ever permitted by the Broncos. KC’s 524 total net yards were the club’s most since posting 537 vs. Cincinnati (1/1/06).

More Takeaway Stats: The Chiefs forced at least one takeaway in their last nine games and recorded an INT in their last five games. Kansas City’s five-game INT streak is the club’s longest mark since doing it in five straight games (10/14/07 – 11/18/07). The Chiefs registered three INTs in a game for the first time since doing it at the N.Y. Jets (10/26/08). CB Brandon Flowers established a career-high with his fifth INT of the season. He has seven career INTs.

Colquitt Near the Top of the NFL Record Book: P Dustin Colquitt finished the season with a franchise-record 41 punts inside the 20 the season, the third-highest single-season total in NFL history and one shy of the NFL record of 42. He now has a team-record 145 career punts inside the 20. Colquitt’s 96 punts were the fourth-highest single-season total in team annals. Colquitt’s 4,361 punting yards were the second-highest total in franchise annals.

More On Colquitt: P Dustin Colquitt established a Chiefs single-season record with a 40.78-yard net punting average, breaking the previous mark of 40.00 established by P Jerrel Wilson in ‘68. Colquitt also owns the best career net punting average in franchise history at 44.09.

First-Drive TD: The Chiefs scored their first offensive TD of the season on a one-yard run by FB Mike Cox, who scored his initial NFL TD. WR Terrance Copper hauled in a career-long 50-yard TD on the drive. It was Kansas City initial offensive TD in the first quarter since WR Devard Darling had a 33-yard TD reception vs. Miami (12/21/08).

Sack Stats: DE Glenn Dorsey registered his first sack of the season and the second of his career. LB Tamba Hali has a career-high 8.5 sacks on the season and 27.0 for his career.

Bowe’s Streak Continues: WR Dwayne Bowe has caught a pass in 35 consecutive games dating back to a contest vs. Denver (11/11/07), the longest active receiving streak of any Chiefs player.

Games Played/Games Started: S Mike Brown, CB Brandon Carr, LB Tamba Hali and C Rudy Niswanger were the only four players to start all 16 games for Kansas City in 2009. S Jon McGraw played in his 100th career regular season game.

Lawrence’s Run: WR Quinten Lawrence had a career-long 26-yard run in the third quarter. Kickoff Return Stats: Kansas City’s 77 kickoff returns were the second-highest total in team history, while the club’s 1,666 kickoff returns were the third-highest tally in franchise annals.
